What's In a Name

Letter & Lyse is inspired by my childhood nickname, Lyse (pronounced lease), and the Stevie Nicks song “Leather & Lace,” a favorite shared with my mom. It reflects my love of music and my pull toward creating work that is both soft and strong. Lovely and a little badass. It’s also a quiet nod to lovers, who make up the heart of much of my work.

I’m a Chicago girl raised in the suburbs, currently based in La Grange where I live with my husband and two sons, and a calligraphy artist and engraver.

Before Letter & Lyse became my full-time dream job, I spent nearly eight years in client services across various industries, learning how to show up for people, anticipate needs before they’re spoken, and bring a little calm into the chaos.

(All skills that come in very handy on wedding weeks, event days, and corporate activations—where everyone’s caffeine levels are… uncertain.)

Today, I help couples, event planners, brands, and thoughtful gifters express their story, vision, and vibe through bespoke calligraphy and design, all through a seamless process that leaves overwhelm off the guest list.
